A bit more detail about this illustrious property: According to the New York Times, this brownstone was developed in the late 1870s, although records say different, by
George J. Hamilton, who built five row houses at the northwest corner of the Avenue and 128th Street. Hamilton’s architect was the renown George B. Pelham, who had been born in England and came to New York in 1871. Pelham’s houses were typical neo-Grec-style buildings of the period, with customary high stoops.
On the corner from this property is a homage to the famous Collyer Brothers, who are two of New York’s most historically “reclusive hermits”.
The Upper Fifth Avenue Town House is available for showing by appointment only.
